IUU Forum Japan
Introduction of organizations and companies / PR message to visitors
Established in 2017, IUU Forum Japan is a Japan-based consortium that works on measures against illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
IUU fishing imposes a huge threat to the global sustainability of seafood resources. Its scale in terms of monetary value of catch is estimated to be equivalent to ore greater than the total annual production value of Japan. Furthermore, unreasonably cheap seafood sourced by IUU fishing creates unfair competition with fisheries operators who play by the rules.
To learn more about our activities and latest global trends around IUU fishing, please visit our booth at TSSS 2024! We are looking forward to seeing you soon. -

Indonesia Tuna Industry
Introduction of organizations and companies / PR message to visitors
Indonesia is home to the world's largest tuna fisheries, utilizing a variety of fishing gears such as purse seine, long line, pole and line, and hand line.
These diverse fishing methods are part of Fishery Improvement Projects (FIPs), which aim to enhance the sustainability and management of tuna stocks.
Sourcing tuna from Indonesian FIPs supports the transition towards more sustainable fisheries by promoting better fishing practices, reducing bycatch, and improving resource management.
This initiative helps ensure long-term ecological balance while maintaining livelihoods for local fishing communities.
